WELCOME

Welcome to the Combustion and Fire Processes Laboratory website. Here you can find descriptions of current and recent research which cover diverse areas such as forest fire ignition, microgravity combustion and electromagnetic enhancement of combustion to name a few. We encourage individuals interested in any of our current or recent projects to contact us.

ABOUT US

The Combustion and Fire Processes Laboratory (CFPL) at the University of California, Berkeley investigates a number of combustion related phenomena. Our primary areas of specialty include:

  • ignition and fire spread
  • smoldering and transition to flaming
  • spacecraft/aircraft fire safety
  • wildland fire propagation and wildland fire spotting
  • liquid fuel pool burning;
  • self heating and ignition
  • small-scale energy generation
  • biofuels combustion
  • electromagnetic combustion enhancement
  • biofuels combustion

Notice

The 1st International Argon Power Cycle Engine workshop is around the corner. The Argon Engine is a new approach to energy storage and power generation. This new technology is being developed by the the Combustion Analysis Laboratory at UC Berkeley. Visit the official website to know more.
